Course Description:

The Fire Academy Core is a 19-week course that is designed to give the fire candidate or new recruit all the basic certifications and courses required to function as an Oklahoma Fire Fighter. Upon completion of the Academy, college credits may be applied for at OSU-OKC and Redlands Community College. Upon the completion of the Academy, college credits may be applied for at: OSU-OKC & Redlands Community College.

Upon graduation of the Fire Academy Core at EOC Tech, graduates will have the opportunity to be recruited by growing Consortium member fire departments as well as other Oklahoma fire departments.

Vaccinations: (these are required to enroll in the Fire Academy Core Program and are not included in the total cost of the course)

• 2 PPDs (tuberculosis) within the last 365 days or lab report from chest x-ray if positive reaction.
  
  
• 2 MMRs (1 or both must be over age 18) or 1 MMR and 1 Rubeola or laboratory report showing positive serological titers for Mumps, Rubella and Rubeola.
  
  
• Proof of Varicella-Zoster (chicken pox) immunity, personal history of having chicken pox, or documented proof of 2 doses of vaccine after age 13 or laboratory report showing positive serological titers for Varicella-Zoster.
  
  
• Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccines or signed form declining vaccines or laboratory report showing positive serological titers for Hepatitis B.
  
  An original OSBI criminal and sex offender background check; name only, within 1 month of beginning the Fire Academy . Note: Fire Academy students CANNOT have any felony convictions.
  
  
• Each candidate shall schedule, obtain, and pass a physical with his or her own medical doctor. This physical shall meet the minimum standard of, at the very least, a "sports physical" as defined by the candidates medical doctor.
  
  
• All requirements listed above are at EXTRA COST TO THE STUDENT.

Payment Information:

• Total Cost: $3900.00 (uniform, vaccines & physical not included).
  
  
• A $500.00 deposit is required at the time of enrollment. This deposit is non-refundable.
  
  
• Financial Aid is available through the FAFSA & the GI Bill.
  
  
• Remaining amount owed for course is due prior to the first day of class.
  
  
• All required financial aid documentation must be received by the Financial Aid Coordinator before the class begins. Otherwise, the student will be expected to pay the full remaining amount before the first day of class.
  
  
• Refunds: Students may make a written appeal to determine if special circumstances warrant an adjustment to policy. The appeal form is located in the office of the Director of Business and Industry Services. The Director's decision is final.
